MaryBeth Lorence, LMFT

Welcome
Thank you for visiting my website. I welcome your curiosity about me, my therapy practice, and how you might benefit from therapy. I have a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, and am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with individual adults, couples, and adult family pairs.
About My Practice
I am trained to hear you in a way that is different from your family and friends. Speaking with someone who can listen in a new way can help you gain insight into your life and present-day problems. As we gain deeper understanding into recurring problems that cause distress, you can begin to shift those patterns.
My approach is dynamic, collaborative, empathetic, and nonjudgemental. I use techniques from
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for temporary symptom relief; and modern psychoanalytic psychotherapy (aka psychodynamic) and Neuro-Affective Relational Model for exploring the roots of your symptoms with the aim of providing long-lasting, meaningful change.
Because I am sometimes out of the Bay Area, I work both in-person and online. I ask that clients be able to attend sessions both in-person and online, or exclusively online.
Whether we are meeting in-person or virtually, I consider our time together a shared space, where we work together toward your goal of feeling better about your self and your relationships.
I help people with:
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Relationship difficulties
-
Life transitions/disruptions
-
Grief and Loss
-
Binge eating/Emotional eating
-
Alcohol or drug use
. . . and more.
Please take some time to explore my website to learn more about
what I offer and my approach to therapy.
